Caring for Drains.

All drain lines in your house eventually connect to your main drain. If the main drain is clogged the sewage will back up to the lowest exit which usually is a floor drain.

1. Kitchen Sink drain: Grease is the number 1 enemy. Scrape all grease items into a garbage can. Don't put them down the disposal. Also avoid high fiber items like pumpkin products and corn husks.

2. Bath/shower and bathroom sink drains. Hair is the number 1 problem for these drains. Take apart your stopper mechanisms and remove trapped hair. Use screens to trap the hair before it becomes a problem. It is a good idea to own a sink plunger. These have an orange cup that looks like a traditional suction cup.

3.Toilets: Hard objects (tooth brushes, toilet paper holder centers, etc.) usually require the toilet to be removed. Keep hard objects off of the back of your toilet tank. For paper clogs use a toilet plunger. A toilet plunger is usually black and the cup has a small extender. You should own one.

4. Main Drain. If you have a root problem your line will eventually have to be replaced. We have the abililty to replace it without trenching. In the mean time it should be cabled at least once a year. Root killer may help.
